A popular Manchester sandwhich shop known for its Neapolitan cuzzetiello-style sandwiches has relaunched in a new city centre location.

The sandwhich spot formerly known as Mira has rebranded as 'Must Be Micky's' and has opened inside the kitchen at Ply in the Northern Quarter.

Menus have been given a refresh and now will focus on freshly baked focaccia. The concept was first brought to life by Mike Swain and Rhea Nickson who started off making the sandwiches in their kitchen, before pop-ups at Ancoats General Store and more recently at the hut at Sadler’s Yard, by the Co-op building and New Century.

Made by tearing off the end a loaf of bread, scooping out the bread and stuffing with a sandwich filling, Cuzzetiello roughly translates as 'bread bowl' sandwiches and is hugely popular in Southern Italy. Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Mike explained that the name change was promoted by the brand's fresh start. "The change of name was needed really, we needed to catch up with all the changes that have happened since we started selling sandwiches since our flat in town - we've made a lot of tweaks since then, and yes it's a slight nod to my name, but I'm not self-indulgent enough to call it totally after myself. "We're pivoting away from big Neapolitan and coming back to Manchester after setting up at Macclesfield Picturedrome it made sense to switch up so people knew we had changed so the focus now is on focaccia, plus cool new sides and great doughnuts.
