Motherwell and Wishaw MSP Clare Adamson has spoken of her delight after plans for a rail freight hub at Ravenscraig was rejected.

The SNP MSP was thrilled of the decision from the Scottish Government Reporter to block the proposals from the Russell Group to build the huge hub at the former industrial site.Ms Adamson said: “I am thrilled that the Scottish Government has listened to my constituents.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

The planning application for the former steelworks site was roundly opposed by local residents, who formed the Ravenscraig Community Action Group, who were backed by cross-party politicians including Ms Adamson, Labour’s Monica Lennon and Scottish Greens’ Gillian Mackay, both MSPs for Central Scotland, as well as local councillors.
