Motherwell boss warns side not to get carried away with recent form
dailyrecord.co.ukStuart Kettlewell says his Motherwell side are flying, ahead of a trip to St Johnstone this afternoon – but has warned not to get carried away with two wins.The Lanarkshire side head to McDiarmid Park in Perth for a clash with St Johnstone, ahead of the international break, on the back of a 3-1 win over Hearts and a 1-0 triumph that saw them knock Kilmarnock out of the Premier Sports Cup last-16.But while he’s happy with how his side are playing, Kettlewell voices a note of caution.He said: “By and large, I think we hit decent heights and I think in the last couple of games you could see, incrementally, that we’ve been getting better – but it’s on us to ensure that comes again this weekend.“I think going away from home, playing against St Johnstone, is a different test, different challenge, different mind-set, a different type of game, and we have to make sure that our levels are still going up.“I stressed it after the Hearts game that I’m certainly not getting carried away with one good result, one good performance.“It built on the week before, of getting into the last eight of the cup, but I think we’re going to have to put another few per cent onto that performance to try and gain another three points – as difficult a task as that’s going to be.“But I’m seeing really positive signs from within our group.
I’m seeing players getting fitter, sharper, and some of the new players are starting to understand what we want to do and how we want to play, and I think as always if you get that buy-in from players, you’ll see a better product.”Kettlewell added: “Players will express themselves more and we’ll execute aspects of the game better when they’re full of confidence.“It has been a real positive for me in the last two
