Morrisons announces supermarket closures - including one in Greater Manchester

Morrisons set to close several stores in the coming weeks, including one in Greater Manchester. It will shut down its branches in Bolton, Faversham and the supermarket on Blackpool Road in Preston.

The Morrisons on Blackpool Road will be sold to Tesco, Birmingham Live reports. A spokesperson for Morrisons said: “Following a thorough review of our Faversham and Bolton Breightmetstore's operation, unfortunately we do not believe performance is sustainable and we are therefore announcing today that we have made the difficult decision to sell the stores." Natasha Cook, Sustainable Packaging and Plastics Manager at Morrisons, said: “We’re excited to be launching this trial with Podback as we look to make it even easier for our customers who want to brew fresh coffee at home to recycle their used coffee pods.
