Meghan Markle has had her half-sister Samantha Markle's defamation case thrown out of court. Samantha had taken Meghan to court over comments she made during an interview with Oprah Winfrey and on her Netflix show with Prince Harry.
However, the judge sided with Meghan and dismissed the case.The judge stated that Samantha failed to identify any statements that could be considered defamatory.The judge also said that Samantha can't bring this case back to court.This means that Samantha's attempts to amend her complaint in relation to the book Finding Freedom, the Netflix series, or the CBS interview are all dismissed.The judge wrote that Meghan's motion to dismiss the case is granted and Samantha's defamation claims are dismissed with prejudice.This means that the case is closed in favour of Meghan.
Meghan Markle, 42, has been accused by her half-sister of telling "demonstrably false and malicious lies" to a global audience in her 2021 chat with Oprah Winfrey, reports the Mirror.
Samantha Markle first took her defamation case against Meghan to court in March 2022. She claims that the Duchess defamed her by sharing information with the authors of an unauthorised biography called Finding Freedom and talking about their relationship on live TV with Winfrey.
