McFly star Tom Fletcher sought out emergency medical attention over the Easter weekend after contracting an agonising eye condition. The star shared a snap of himself in an empty A&E waiting room as he joked that he was next to be seen.
A second snap showed Tom, 37, having returned home as he posed for a selfie with a notably sore-looking left eye. “Home,” he wrote. “Another 6 weeks of steroid eye drops here we go”.The dad-of-three later issued an update and said he’d “literally been asleep all day” as he informed fans he’d contracted Uveitis for a third time. “Each time it’s wiped me out like this,” Tom added.
Tom’s thought to have been diagnosed with the condition twice last year, most recently in the run up to Christmas. According to the NHS, symptoms of Uveitis include eye pain, redness, sensitivity to light, blurred or cloud vision, small shapes moving across your field of vision and loss of peripheral vision.
The rare condition is believed to be linked to a problem with a person’s immune system. Tom’s not the only member of the Fletcher family to have been rushed to A&E of late as one of his sons was taken to hospital last month.
