Manchester's biggest ice rink opens for Halloween and will stay until the New Year

A giant ice rink has returned to Manchester for Halloween and the festive season. The Skate Manchester rink launched on Thursday as Scare Skate, with Halloween-themed music, lighting and themed props to 'ignite the fright factor'.

It's become somewhat of a staple in Manchester’s Halloween celebrations and this year features a 'frightfully realistic' giant spider taking centre stage, wrapped in a bright white LED light web around the sparkling Christmas tree centre piece. Kelly Baker, director of Managed Ice Rinks, who coordinates the event, said: "We’re delighted to welcome Scare Skate to Manchester once again as the rink opens its doors to another year of skaters.
