A man has gone on trial accused of 'enlisting' a gunman who shot dead a man amid an alleged 'row about trainers'. Emmanuel Onasanya, 33, admits he drove to the scene, but a jury heard he says he had 'no idea' the shooter had a gun.
Zikel Bobmanuel, 31, was killed in when the gunman, Rumaal Ingram, opened fire on Welland Street in Openshaw, east Manchester, on March 25 last year, a jury was told.
Opening the prosecution at Manchester's Minshull Street Crown Court on Monday afternoon (April 23), Gordon Cole KC told jurors the circumstances of the case were 'to a degree unusual', explaining that the man who had the gun was Mr Ingram, who the barrister said had previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter. Mr Onasanya denies a single a charge of manslaughter. The KC said: "Manslaughter is simply unlawful killing of another person at the time intending or anticipating some harm would fall to that other person.
