Man arrested over death of Gogglebox star George Gilbey after fall at work
ok.co.ukPolice have arrested a man in his 40s in relation to the death of Gogglebox star George Gilbey, who died earlier this week.The TV star died aged 40 following a reported accident at his workplace on Wednesday, 28 March.
A man has now been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter in relation to George's death, with the Essex police launching an investigation alongside the Health and Safety Executive.
A spokesperson for Essex police said: "As part of our ongoing investigation into the death of a man in Campfield Road, Shoebury on Wednesday 27 March, we have arrested a man in their 40s from the Witham area on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter. "This is a joint investigation with the Health and Safety Executive and our enquiries are ongoing." The Health and Safety Executive said in a statement to OK!: "We are aware of the incident and working with Essex Police in their investigation." George was best known for appearing on Channel 4's Gogglebox from 2013 until 2014, appearing on the show alongside his mum Linda and stepdad Pete McGarry.
George went onto compete on Celebrity Big Brother alongside Gary Busey, Leslie Jordan, Stephanie Pratt and James Jordan. He came in fourth place, before returning to Gogglebox for two years in 2016.The TV star reportedly died in a 'workplace accident', just two years after the death of his stepdad Pete, who passed away aged 71 in 2022.
