Nick Vivarelli International Correspondent Over the past six decades Lucca Comics & Games, which is held annually within the medieval ramparts of the Tuscan town of Lucca, has expanded exponentially to become the largest geek meet in Europe.

This year they are pulling out all the stops with a lineup that comprises the first global event teasing the second season of “Squid Game” with talents in tow, massive celebrations for the 50th anniversary of “Dungeons & Dragons,” and the 40th anniversary of “Tetris” with their respective creators on hand.

Lucca’s director Emanuele Vietina spoke to Variety about the event’s theme, which is “The Butterfly Effect,” and why naming a street after the creators of “Dungeons & Dragons” is part of the event’s DNA. The theme of this year’s edition of Lucca Comics is “The Butterfly Effect.” What’s its significance? It means many things to us.

First of all, it stands for how we have evolved. Undoubtedly over the past almost 60 years, Lucca Comics and Games has generated a great emulative effect.
