It's an age-old question.... can men and women ever truly be friends? And it was the hot topic of debate on Good Morning Britain this morning with Ben Shephard and Charlotte Hawkins opening up the conversation with two reality show stars.
Both Love Island's Zara Lackenby-Brown and Gogglebox's Tom Malone joined the hosts for a lighthearted chat on the subject, with both offering differing points of view.
Zara believed that they can't, declaring that "all of my close male friendships in the past have tried it on with me." Tom, however, felt differently, insisting that his dancing career, involving mostly women, meant that he has had plenty of platonic friendships with the opposite sex.
It was Zara's comments in particular that riled GMB viewers, with many shocked at her attitude. One said: "I wonder if she gets a lot of attention because she’s just an attention seeker that’s desperate to be on TV." Another laughed with an emoji and said: "'I'm gorgeous so why wouldn't any bloke fancy me!?'" with another quipping, "Soon she'll have to stay in for fear of men just falling at her feet in the streets!" mocking Zara's opinion.
