‘The Boys’ Spinoff ‘Gen V’ Sets Premiere Date at Amazon

Jennifer Maas TV Business Writer Amazon Prime Video has finally set the premiere date for “The Boys” spinoff series “Gen V.” Also from creator Eric Kripke, the new show, which takes place at a superhero college, will launch with its first three episodes on Sept. 29. New episodes will rollout weekly until the Season 1 finale on Nov. 3. Per Amazon’s description for “Gen V”: “From the world of ‘The Boys’ comes ‘Gen V,’ which explores the training of the first generation of superheroes to know about Compound V, and that their powers were injected into them, rather than God-given. ‘Wallace & Gromit in the Grand Getaway’ to Compete in Venice Film Festival’s Immersive Program

The program will include VR experience “Wallace & Gromit in the Grand Getaway” and a Fatboy Slim project. Getting invited to the couch afterward was a whole other level. By the 1990s, Carson was done and while there were other coveted late-night slots (David Letterman, Conan O’Brien), another star-maker had emerged: the Just for Laughs Montréal Festival. The comedy fest — which takes place July 14-29 and features solo shows by Ali Wong, Ronny Chieng and Anthony Jeselnik — was born 40 years ago and for decades it has been the place to be seen, with its New Faces showcase attracting a swarm of industry executives and acting as a launching pad for up-and-coming talent.

This year’s awards show will be held on July 28 at the festival. Quinta Brunson Comedy Person of the Year The Philadelphia native, who got her start making Instagram memes, was selected for the Just for Laughs New Faces: Creators Award in 2017. Six years later, Brunson is an Emmy award-winning actor, producer, writer and creator, thanks to ABC’s “Abbott Elementary.” Last year, Brunson became the first Black woman to receive three Emmy nominations, going on to win a writing trophy for her work. The show’s second season was just nominated for eight more Emmy statuettes; Brunson was recognized for her performance on the series and as host on “Saturday Night Live.”
