A sign at London Euston station is set to be changed after it was pointed out for overlooking one of Manchester's most celebrated historical moments.
A sharp-eyed traveller voiced his concerns about the sign, which promotes the High Speed 2 rail project at London Euston. HS2 aims to provide high-speed rail links between London and Birmingham but will not extend to the north of England following the previous Conservative government's contentious decision to cancel the northern extension last year.
The hoarding at Euston details that: "In September 1838, Britain's first intercity train left Euston," and continues: "It took over five hours to reach Birmingham.
Almost 200 years later, that journey will take 45 minutes with High Speed Two." The advertisement also heralds: "World-class engineering for the new rail revolution with HS2."
