Lanarkshire litter louts to blame for thousands of fly tipping cases across region in just two years

Over 7000 fly tipping cases in South Lanarkshire have been recorded in just over two years.Yet despite this, only 63 fixed penalty notices were issued as a result, and just 13 cases passed to the Procurator Fiscal.The several thousand cases help to produce a figure that is the fifth highest of any council across Scotland in that time.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

The likes of East Greenlees Road, Gilbertfield Road, and Cambuslang Road in Cambuslang, have all been regularly targeted by litter louts.

We reported last year how a community group, Cleaning Up Cambuslang, have been taking to the streets to tackle some of the problems.
