An East Kilbride college student has been shortlisted for a top award.James Carr is in the running for the Foundation Apprentice Student of the Year gong at the 2022 Scottish Apprenticeship Awards.He was nominated for the award by his South Lanarkshire College lecturer, Julie McGrane.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

James from, Blantyre, told Lanarkshire Live : “I am delighted that Julie has nominated me as it was a big leap for me to undertake the course. “Following my business management higher, I felt I wanted to progress my knowledge and understanding of the subject away from the school classroom.

I knew I didn’t want to leave school, I just wanted to broaden my horizons."I really wanted to give this part-time college course a go.
