Lanarkshire hospitality staff raise funds for Lapland trip

Children with life-limiting illnesses and their families had a magical adventure to Lapland thanks to the fundraising efforts of Lanarkshire hospitality staff.Big-hearted colleagues from the Manorview group raised £95,000 for chosen charity When You Wish Upon A Star to take 70 families on an incredible trip incorporating husky and sleigh rides, fireworks and a special meeting with Santa.They worked for more than three years to raise the funds, with efforts including an Arctic trek, skydive and cocktail sales, plus virtual events during the Covid lockdowns.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Colleagues from each of the venues worked together to walk the 2400-mile distance of Route 66 during 2020 and a combined 10,000km the following year, as well as completing sponsored events including half-marathons and Tough Mudder.Adventurous efforts included a group of staff taking part in When You Wish Upon A Star’s challenging 70km Arctic trek, in temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees, while others took to the air for a skydive; and the company donated £1 from each sale of a special charity cocktail.Four staff
