Alexander Emmanuel Rodriguez (born July 27, 1975), nicknamed "A-Rod", is an American former professional baseball shortstop and third baseman who played 22 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB).

He played seven seasons with Seattle Mariners, three seasons with the Texas Rangers and twelve seasons with the New York Yankees. Rodriguez began his professional career as one of the sport's most highly touted prospects, and is considered to be one of the greatest baseball players of all time.

Five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant passed away at age 41. ESPN reported that the famed athlete and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, were among several people killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, Calif.

The 18-time All-Star spent his career with the Los Angeles Lakers, retiring after 20 years in 2016. In 1996, he was the youngest player to join the NBA, and he’s eligible for the Basketball Hall of Fame this year.

However, he also developed a music career—and his hip-hop group CHEIZAW (standing for Canon Homo sapiens Eclectic Iconic Zaibatsu Abstract Words) was signed to Sony Entertainment in the late ‘90s.
