Winter is just around the corner and the changing seasons means comforting, indulgent meals are taking centre stage in the kitchen - and Jamie Oliver's latest dish fits the bill. The celeb cook has shared his recipe for an indulgent potato gratin dauphinoise, a French classic made of wafer thing spud slices that are cooked in plenty of cream and complemented with garlic and a hint of nutmeg. While the ingredients are basic, some methods require lengthy cooking time and painstaking assembly to make sure the potatoes are perfectly placed in the dish.

Thankfully, Jamie's takes a simpler approach, as his entire recipe take just 30 minutes from start to finish and doesn't take short cuts on the technique.Once prepared, the decadent dish can be paired with Jamie's juicy roast chicken, or swap out the classic roast potatoes and enjoy it with "melt in the mouth" roast beef.

Sharing the method on his YouTube channel, he said his potato dauphinoise is perfect if you're short on time "but still want great flavour".As reported by The Express, Jamie said in the clip: “I’m going to make the most delicious, beautiful potato dauphinoise; creamy, oozy, cheesy, melt-in-your-mouth, absolutely gorgeous.

Normally, the dauphinoise would take a couple of hours to cook, but the way I’m going to cheat it, it’s going to be incredible and way quicker." Fans who put the recipe to the test whole-heartedly confirmed it's a success, with one writing: “Just made this potato bake for dinner and it was the tastiest bake I’ve ever made.” Another followed with: “I’ve cooked this so many times and I’m amazed how amazing the flavour is!!”Read below for the full cooking method and ingredient list.
