An interview between Ed Balls and his wife, Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, on ITV's Good Morning Britain has sparked a wave of complaints to Ofcom. The former Labour MP questioned his wife about the handling of violent protests in the UK following the tragic deaths of three young girls in Southport.

Ofcom received a whopping 8,201 complaints regarding the segment, during the period from July 30 to August 5. Ed questioned whether there was a "two-tier approach" in policing far-right activists and pro-Palestine demonstrators, suggesting that the police might have been "softer and more cautious" with the latter.

Yvette, who has been married to Ed for 25 years, maintained that the police must act "without fear or favour, whatever the kinds of crimes it is that they face".The interview, predominantly led by GMB host Kate Garraway, saw Balls express that he had "genuine questions" for his wife, having "rarely seen her at all in the last week" due to the unrest.

Earlier, Labour MP Ms Sultana engaged in an interview with presenters Garraway and Balls on Good Morning Britain as they discussed her call for political leaders to outright condemn the protests as "Islamophobic" and "racist".
