Police uncovered a loaded gun, a 'sophisticated chop-shop', a cannabis farm and £20,000 worth of illegal vapes as part of a 'heavy hit' crackdown in Oldham.
Officers carried out multiple early-morning raids on properties and premises across the borough on Tuesday (January 16). As part of the crackdown, named Operation Avro, they arrested a total 40 people for a number of offences, including on suspicion of drug supply, conspiracy to supply firearms and the importation of controlled substances.
Today (January 18), GMP have released more details on some of the illegal items they uncovered during the raids. Police said a loaded firearm was found during one of the dawn raids. In other warrants carried out throughout the day, a 'chop-shop' - where vehicles, often stolen, are stripped for parts before being sold on - was uncovered in the borough.
