A dad who went to bed feeling 'great' woke up in the middle of the night with no memory - and couldn't even recognise his brother or his girlfriend.

John Wynne, from Hoylake, got up at 4am to go to the bathroom, but quickly realised he had 'no memory' of where it was. The 39-year-old musician said he couldn't stand up without falling over, and didn't recognise anyone around him.

After initially being advised to 'sleep it off', John's girlfriend Molly took him to hospital, where an MRI scan revealed a whole section of his brain wasn't functioning.

Doctors told him a hole in his heart caused two blood clots in his brain, and ultimately a stroke, in what he called a 'terrifying' diagnosis, reports the Liverpool Echo.
