Taylor Swift

Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She is known for narrative songs about her personal life, which have received widespread media coverage. At age 14, Swift became the youngest artist signed by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house and, at 15, she signed her first record deal.

Her 2006 eponymous debut album was the longest-charting album of the 2000s in the US. Its third single, "Our Song", made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number-one song on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Swift's second album, Fearless, was released in 2008.

Buoyed by the pop crossover success of the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", it became the US' best-selling album of 2009 and was certified diamond in the US. The album won four Grammy Awards, and Swift became the youngest Album of the Year winner.

Taylor Swift performing in the city next month. As per BBC News, Shelter Scotland have reported that several homeless people it has been supporting have been sent by taxi to Aberdeen and Glasgow because of a shortage of accommodation in the city due to the upcoming concerts. The housing charity told the BBC it was “a blatant injustice” for homeless people to be “in direct competition” with tourists visiting the city. They added that people being declared homeless in Edinburgh who would usually be offered temporary accommodation via hotels were instead being sent away from the city due to what the BBC say is “a severe shortage in accommodation caused by the concert.”Swift will be playing three nights at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield stadium from June 7-9.

Thousands of fans will be in attendance in the city and as a result, accommodation in Edinburgh will be scarce in that period.Homeless families and tourists being forced to compete for the same accommodation is further evidence of @Edinburgh_CC and indeed most of Scotland's #HousingEmergency.Business as usual from @ScotGov won't cut it.
