Heartbroken mum pays emotional tribute to son with a 'beautiful soul' after sudden death

The mother of a young man who took his own life has issued an emotional plea to men who may be struggling with their mental health.

Ben Murray, 35, who had a young son, died in a wooded area close to his home in Chorley, Lancashire on June 25 of this year.

At an inquest today (Friday, September 28), a coroner ruled his death was a suicide. Ben's mum heartbroken mum Deborah has now urged others who might be in a bad place to be 'be honest and talk to someone.' Deborah spoke during the inquest about how her son had a 'beautiful little soul.' She also said he always thought of others before himself, Lancs Live report. Mum Deborah said that he felt as if he 'wasn't a man' if he admitted he was struggling. "I couldn't force him to take medication," Deborah said. "I'd say 'how are you feeling' and he would say he was fine.

It was more out of embarrassment than privacy; thinking that he wasn't a man. He always thought he was a burden to everybody." Deborah's assessment of her son's inability to admit he was suffering was backed by mental health nurse Brian Humes.
