HBO is speaking out about The Idol. The network issued a statement following an earlier report, which suggested that The Weeknd and Lily Rose-Depp-led series will not be returning for Season 2.

HBO PR tweeted on Thursday (June 15): “It is being misreported that a decision on a second season of The Idol has been determined.

It has not, and we look forward to sharing the next episode with you Sunday night.” Page Six reported that there would not be a second season, and cited sources speaking out about The Weeknd‘s alleged “difficult” behavior on set with affecting the decision.

Ratings for the second episode fell by 12%, or more than 100,000 viewers, from the June 11 premiere. The Weeknd has since addressed the backlash over the awkward sex scene.
