He is currently the co-presenter of This Morning (2002–present) and Dancing on Ice (2006–2014, 2018–present) alongside Holly Willoughby. His other work for ITV includes All Star Mr & Mrs (2008–2016), The Cube (2009–2015), and 5 Gold Rings (2017–present). Schofield gained national attention working for the BBC, first as a continuity presenter for Children's BBC on weekdays from 1985 to 1987, then as a presenter on the children's Saturday morning magazine show Going Live! between September 1987 and April 1993.

Phillip Schofield to host new prime time ITV show after This Morning exit

Phillip Schofield is set to present a new prime time series later this year, ITV chiefs have confirmed. The news comes as the beloved television presenter stepped down from the channel's flagship morning show, This Morning, after 21 years on the presenting sofa, 14 years of which were with pal and Dancing On Ice co-host Holly Willoughby.

Much to fans' surprise, the This Morning episode which aired on Thursday, May 18, will act as Phillip's last episode as he is not set to appear on the programme to say goodbye to viewers or colleagues now his exit has been confirmed with "immediate effect".

But there is some good news for Phil's fans, as he'll be back on screens in June for The British Soap Awards and is set to present a new prime time series.

Confirming his upcoming role, ITV's managing director, media and entertainment, Kevin Lygo said: "Phillip is hands-down one of the best broadcasters of his generation and we thank him for his two decades worth of absolutely terrific television on the This Morning sofa. "This Morning is made by one of the best and most diligent teams in television, who produce over 12 hours of live television each week. "We look forward to continuing our relationship with Phillip starting with The British Soap Awards in June and a brand new peak time series to come." While Phillip added in a statement on Saturday: "I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning.
