Glasgow Thales factory blocked by pro-Palestine protesters

Pro-Palestine protesters have blockaded the entrance to a factory, which has a contract with an Israeli military manufacturer, in Glasgow this morning.

Over 100 activists set up outside the premises of Thales UK Ltd, at Linthouse Road in Govan on Wednesday, July 3, demanding they drop a contact with Israeli weapons company Elbit Systems.

Elbit is the largest Israeli military manufacturer and produces some of the country’s land-based equipment as well as drones used by the Israeli Air Force.The protestors blocked entrances to the site holding up banners that read "Stop Arming Israel" and "This Factory Arms Genocide".The blockade by demonstrators is the latest in a series of protests at weapons manufacturers across the UK.

First Minister John Swinney has called on the UK government to recognise a Palestinian state.Tom, 39, care worker, said: "There is a full-blown famine happening right now in Gaza with children and elderly so starved they can barely walk.
