A girl was rushed to hospital after suffering a head injury when a rollercoaster broke down mid-ride. The child was one of 19 people that became trapped on the Rocket Coaster at Southport Pleasureland yesterday afternoon (Saturday), the Liverpool Echo reports.
She fell unconscious after sustaining a head injury when the ride suddenly stopped. The girl was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital for treatment.
After being rescued from the ride, 17 other people were given precautionary checks by paramedic crews from three ambulances. The work to remove everyone safely from the ride is believed to have taken around 90 minutes. Emergency services were first called to the theme park at the seaside resort at around 12pm, and a multi-agency meeting was held between North West Ambulance Service and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service.
