General Hospital is making a big change in the writers room. Co-head writers Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor will be departing the daytime sudser that just took the top prize at the 50th Annual Daytime Emmys.
Emmy-winning soap veterans Patrick Mulcahey and current GH script editor and historian, Elizabeth Korte, will assume the roles.
Van Eatten and O’Conner are considered long-time respected members of GH family. Their contributions helped the ABC soap reach its recent 60th anniversary milestone.
A spokeswoman for the daytime drama declined comment. In December, GH took the prize for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series. It also racked up four Emmys in the acting categories (the late Sonya Eddy, Robert Gossett, Eden McCoy and Alley Mills) and another in the Outstanding Directing Team category.
