A consumer rights expert has shared just some of the ways that Brits could save money this winter. Following this, consumer rights campaigner Martyn James has said that vulnerable people have been telling him that they are too scared to use the cooker or put the heating on.As reported by the Mirror, Martyn says that leaving the heating off during a cold winter will not help anyone.
He instead suggests cutting bills elsewhere and claiming all the benefits and grants that you are entitled to.Here are Martyn's four checks that households should make to potentially boost finances and to reduce bills where possible.The quickest way to cut your bills and save a packet is to switch to a better broadband deal if you are out of contract.
If you’re adding a TV package, start on a reduced deal – you can always add extra channels or services later.However, if you are entitled to certain benefits you could be one of 4.2million people that qualify for the new social tariffs.
