NBC, The Washington Post and other media outlets reported today that Japan’s former prime minister, Shinzo Abe, was shot while giving a speech in western Japan near Kyoto.

Both outlets cited the nation’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno, who said the former PM was shot around 11:30 a.m. local time.

Abe was said to be bleeding as he was loaded into an ambulance. The New York Times, citing a local fire official, reported Abe was unconscious and showing no vital signs.

He was driven to a helicopter and flown to a medical facility. Multiple reports had Abe in cardiopulmonary arrest when he arrived.Japanese media outlet NHK reported that a man had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Major spoilers for “Prey” follow.Before we jump into the specifics of “Prey,” we have to briefly talk about a moment from one of the earlier movies in the franchise.At the end of “Predator 2,” released way back in 1990, LA cop Mike Harrigan (Danny Glover) mortally wounds the predator that has come to futuristic, gang-riddled 1997 Los Angeles. (Also a big part of futuristic 1997 Los Angeles? Voodoo!) Before the predator can initiate his self-destruction device, Glover’s Harrigan disarms him (literally) and follows the creature into the predator’s ship, which is lined with skulls from previous hunts (including the Xenomorph from the “Alien” franchise, which at the time was the coolest Easter egg ever).And what’s more, there are other Predators in the ship too! But instead of being utterly screwed, the predators seem to honor him, giving him an antique pistol marked “Raphael Adolini 1715.” This is Harrigan’s trophy.

Courteeners, English Teacher and Louis Tomlinson were among the acts to be honoured at the first-ever Northern Music Awards.The inaugural ceremony – hosted by the UK’s largest music therapy charity, Nordoff And Robbins – took place at the Albert Hall in Manchester last night (April 23) to celebrate northern artists, festivals, venues and industry figures.Presented by BBC Radio 6 Music DJ Chris Hawkins, the event featured live performances from Courteeners frontman Liam Fray, as well as English Teacher, Lisa Stansfield, The K’s and more.Guest presenters from the region included former Manchester United footballer Gary Neville, New Order‘s Gillian Gilbert and Stephen Norris, and Grimsby-born actor Thomas Turgoose (This Is England). ‌ Neville awarded Courteeners with the Band Of The Year prize.
