Actress Florence Pugh is helping a team of scientists find a cure for dementia. The Oppenheimer star, 27, has been inspired to set up her own group of researchers after becoming an ambassador for Scots F1 legend Sir Jackie Stewart’s global charity, Race Against Dementia.

Speaking about the world’s dementia crisis, she said: “It’s breathtaking, shocking and saddening. About 55million people around the world are either living with dementia, or around those with it.“One in three people born today will die with dementia.

That’s a lot of people and a lot who are looking for an answer, and it’s just going to keep on growing.“With those numbers, it’s crazy we don’t have a cure.

But together we can make a difference and fast-track a cure for dementia.” Florence joined Sir Jackie, 84, at Silverstone in July at the British Grand Prix and was moved after hearing his story as well as those of others affected by the condition.
