'Fit and healthy' Scots dad who 'ignored' severe headaches diagnosed with brain tumour

A 'fit-and-healthy' Scots dad was diagnosed with a brain tumour after ignoring his debilitating headaches for "months on end".Ian McCart, 31, was suffering from intense headaches to the point where he was throwing up, passing out and losing his vision.

The dad-of-two, from Saltcoats in North Ayrshire, pushed his symptoms to the side and insisted they were just bad migraines.But when his eyesight worsened in August 2021, his work advised him to book an appointment at Specsavers to see if he needed glasses.

It was there when opticians found an irregularity in his scans and immediately sent him to Ayr Hospital.From there, he was raced to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow by ambulance to undergo several tests.

A CT scan found that the dad - who enjoys MMA fighting, boxing and who trains at the gym four times a week - had a non-cancerous mass growing inside his skull that was roughly the size of a 50p piece.Recounting the months before his diagnosis, his partner, Amyleigh Cavanagh, 32, told the Record: "Ian was suffering from really bad headaches for months on end, to the point where he was being sick and passing out.
