Families were given some important tips on water safety at a special open day. Loch Ken Trust held the event on the banks of the beauty spot near Loch Ken Holiday Park at Parton.

Locals and holiday makers came along to find out how to stay safe on the water, with the fire brigade, the trust’s ranger service, Galloway Mountain Rescue Team, Galloway Fisheries Trust and Swim The Lochs among the organisations which attended.

As well as rescue demonstrations, there was a barbecue and lots of activities for kids. The day was held in association with Drax, who own the Galloway Hydros Scheme.
