New Rangers recruit Fabio Silva insists he’s got nothing to prove at Ibrox, writes Andy Newport in La Manga. The on-loan Wolves striker has joined Rangers until the end of the season having failed to break back into Gary O’Neil’s Molineux side.
The 21-year-old cost the Premier League outfit a whopping £35million when they lured him from Porto in 2019. But he’s struggled to live-up to that big-money billing, contributing just five goals in 73 appearances.Loan moves to Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven last term proved more productive, with the Portugal Under-21 ace scoring 16 times across his time in Belgium and Holland.
That, however, hasn’t quite hushed his doubters down south who continue to question if he’s cut out for the English top-flight.
But speaking from the Gers’ winter training camp in La Manga, Silva bit back as he said: “I don’t need to think like that. I don’t need to prove nothing to anyone.“I need to prove it to myself and that’s the most important thing every day.
