People have been warned against picking up sick or dead birds after a strain of bird flu has been found at farms and in some wild bird populations.
Council officials say the risk to public health remains ‘very low’ after a number of cases of the avian influenza strain were discovered across Lancashire.
The Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) confirmed the strain was found in commercial poultry premises near Salwick and within a small mixed flock of poultry near Kirkham.
