Emmerdale's Lisa Riley has bravely opened up about her decision not to take a cancer test, despite her character's recent storyline and her own family history.

In the recents scenes in the soap, the Dingle family were told they might carry a faulty gene that causes cancer, following Chas' breast cancer diagnosis.

As a result of the news, they were all urged to get tested quickly. In real life too, 47 year old Lisa, who plays Mandy Dingle, was told she might have the same gene after her mum Cath sadly died from breast cancer 12 years ago.

But unlike Mandy, Lisa has chosen not to be tested, the Daily Star reports. As she helps raise awareness of the BRCA 1 and 2 genes on Emmerdale, Lisa stands by her choice.
