When Belle realises she’s pregnant, she’s desperate to keep it a secret from her abusive husband, Tom King (James Chase). However, during an altercation, Tom attempts to hurt Belle and she’s forced to reveal she's expecting in order to stop him.
As the storyline continues to play out, some viewers have been questioning why Belle hasn’t just left Tom and told the Dingles what’s going on.
But Eden says it’s not that simple for Belle who has been ‘brainwashed’ by her husband. “It looks so easy as an outsider to go, ‘Oh, my God, just get out,’” acknowledged Eden. “But speaking to people and charities, I’ve learnt that’s the last thing you feel you can do because you think your life is over with or without them. “It’s not a case of just pack your bags and leave; in Belle’s mind she is so controlled and manipulated by Tom, there is no life without him.
