The emotional departure on EastEnders was aired in an early release on BBC iPlayer. Stevie Mitchell, portrayed by Alan Ford, left Walford after executing a clever revenge plot against Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden).
Billy (Perry Fenwick) was also left shocked after discovering the truth about his mother's death. Stevie was urged to leave his younger son Teddy (Roland Manookian), but he wasn't about to let that happen and jumped into a taxi to set things right.
He also managed to get back at Phil, who had set him up for theft. Meanwhile, Teddy tried to cheer up Billy. , but Stevie arrived at The Queen Vic and pleaded with his brother to listen to their father, knowing that otherwise, Stevie wouldn't back down. The long-standing character confessed that getting to know his grandchildren had been incredibly meaningful to him, adding that he would carry the guilt and shame of his actions for the rest of his life.
He then expressed his pride in his sons before leaving them to reflect on his words. Stevie was later spotted outside, giving Phil's car the once-over and cautioning him about the risks of pushing away his family.
