DWP to send millions of letters next month saying benefit is stopping

Anyone who gets Housing Benefits has been warned not to ignore letters landing on doorsteps from next week as if you do, you will lose your payments.

People who claim Housing Benefit are being sent Migration Notice letters by the Department for Work and Pensions telling them about changes to their benefits.

Housing Benefit is ending and becoming part of Universal Credit (UC), resulting millions of claimants being switched over to the new system.

The process will not be automatic, however, and people affected will have to apply for UC. The letters, arriving in June, will explain how claimaints have three months to do this, after which point their old benefits will stop.
