Dumbarton's Cammy Clark delighted to get second chance at League One with Sons

Cammy Clark knew plenty about Dumbarton before signing at The Rock.Now he’s aiming to prove a point in League One after the Sons ended his third tier stint with Stirling Albion after just a single season.Clark was a key man as the Binos beat Dumbarton to the 2022/23 League Two title, before the Sons got revenge by relegating Albion on their way to winning last season’s playoffs.The 23-year-old became one of Stevie Farrell’s first summer additions, and will make his Sons debut in this Saturday’s friendly against Falkirk - admitting the move was an easy one to accept.Cammy said: “At the end of my year at Stirling Frank McKeown got in touch with me and asked if I’d be interested in meeting him and the gaffer for a chat.“I did that and I loved what they had to say.“I was delighted to get the deal over the line.“It was quite an easy decision.

I really wanted to try and stay in League One and that was a massive part of my decision to come here.“I’ve known the manager for a while because he’s tried to sign me before.

He’s a good manager and I like the way he works. He’s built a very good dressing room and I loved the way that sounded, so that was another massive pull for coming to Dumbarton.”Cammy says he felt himself developing in his first season as a League One player, and is determined to use that to ensure the Sons don’t suffer the same fate as Albion.He continued: “I learned a lot last season.

The transition from League Two to League One is a big one, but if you play the right way then you can definitely compete. And I’m confident that we can do that this year.“I’ve got a point to prove after how last season ended.“We started the year really well and I couldn’t tell you what happened.
