Driver escapes with minor injuries after car left mangled in dramatic M56 crash

The car, a black Mazda, hit the central reservation on the eastbound carriageway between junction nine for the M6 and Lymm Interchange and junction seven for Bowdon at around lunchtime today (Thursday).
A HGV then collided with the car in a 'minor crash', police said. Officers closed off a full stretch of the motorway as fire crews and paramedics also responded.
A diversion route was put in place as firefighters 'released a casualty' from the car, a spokesperson for the Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said. Police said there 'were no reports of any serious injuries'. The road was fully reopened at around 1.50pm. In a statement, a Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At 11.30am on Thursday 19 October police were called to reports of a collision on the M56 eastbound between junctions 8 and 9. "The collision involves one car, a black Mazda, which had collided with the central reservation.
