Dramatic Olympics twist sees Team GB stripped of silver medal following nail biting finish

Team GB have had their mixed triathlon relay silver medal taken and downgraded to a bronze following the USA appealing the initial result.

After one hour 25 minutes, a 'brilliant race' came down to a tense three-way sprint for the gold medal, with GB, USA and Germany fighting for the gold.

Germany topped the podium courtesy of Laura Lindemann's strong performance on the final straight. Great Britain's Beth Potter, who won bronze in the women's individual triathlon, looked to have done enough to secure the silver, seemingly holding off USA's Taylor Knibbs but that all changed with a late call from the USA.

Race officials have now changed the races final standings following a review of the photo finish, showing Knibbs just pipping Potter at the finish line.
