A popular drink enjoyed by many first thing in the morning could be the key to staving off various serious health conditions, according to medical experts.It's known for giving an energy boost, but doctors are recommending that Brits drink coffee as a way to prevent inflammation.
It comes as concerning research has uncovered an "inflammation crisis", showing that the majority of Brits are barely aware of the condition.Studies show coffee contains polyphenols and other anti-inflammatory compounds that can protect against inflammation.
As explained by award-winning pharmacist and nutritionist, Aidan Goggins, coffee is more than just a morning pick-me-up.He said: "It actively combats inflammation.
Rich in bioactive ingredients, coffee has been shown to neutralise free radicals and diminish inflammation. Interestingly, caffeine itself plays a role by exerting antioxidant effects that lower inflammatory markers."It turns out that three in five people are unaware that chronic inflammation can result in life-threatening diseases, according to data from FutureYou Cambridge.
