This is the device that sparked a bomb alert and led to evacuations on a Salford housing estate tonight. The Manchester Evening News understands the device was deemed to be 'viable' at the scene and as such, a controlled explosion was carried out as a precaution.

Bomb disposal experts, specialist fire service teams and paramedics were called to Cassidy Way, near Monton in Eccles, earlier on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said a number of homes were evacuated on the new-build estate as a result after the discovery of what they called a 'suspicious item' at a house.
