David Fincher is opening up about the scrapped World War Z sequel and revealing that it was going to be like HBO’s The Last of Us. “It was a little like The Last of Us.
I’m glad that we didn’t do what we were doing, because The Last of Us has a lot more real estate to explore the same stuff,” Fincher told GQ in an interview. “In our title sequence, we were going to use the little parasite… they used it in their title sequence, and in that wonderful opening with the Dick Cavett, David Frost-style talk show.: World War Z is a 2013 film directed by Marc Forster with a screenplay from Matthew Michael Carnahan, Drew Goddard and Damon Lindelof based on the 2006 novel by Max Brooks.
The film starred Brad Pitt as a former United Nations investigator looking to find a solution to the zombie apocalypse. Pitt starred alongside Mireille Enos and James Badge Dale.
Paramount had greenlit a sequel to be directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, who ultimately exited the project. Fincher was then to helm the project that was originally supposed to be released in Summer 2017.
