Danny Ramirez Reacts to His Movie Being Canceled After Joaquin Phoenix Dropped Out
justjared.comDanny Ramirez and Joaquin Phoenix were both at the Academy Museum Gala this weekend, weeks after it was revealed that their upcoming movie was canceled.
Both of the guys walked the red carpet at the star-studded event on Saturday night (October 20) in Los Angeles. The movie was set to be an NC-17 gay romance film about two men in love who flee to Mexico in the 1930s.
While on the carpet, Danny was asked to reveal how he felt about Joaquin dropping out of the project, which caused the project to get canceled. Keep reading to find out more… “It’s definitely disappointing,” Danny told Variety. “If anything, it just gave me more inspiration to keep driving, keep pushing, and knowing that I’m on the right path and approaching the work the right way.
So that’s what I’m excited about.” “It’s definitely a very complicated situation,” he added. “The audition process was extensive, and so what I walked away with that was just the artistic validation of throwing down opposite of [Phoenix] in this chemistry read… There was a moment that I was like, ‘Oh, I’ve arrived as a performer.’” Danny said that the movie “hopefully” will still happen and one of his friends has already volunteered to replace Joaquin.
