A community bid is being made to bring a village sports pitch back to life. A steering group of Dalry Community Properties Trust is looking to take on the multi-use games area (MUGA) near the school.
And that would allow local groups to use a facility which has been unavailable for several years. Sarah Ade from the group said: “It’s not been used for about eight years because the surface hasn’t been cleaned.
It’s a facility that should be well used and we thought it should be brought back into use. “We have a really active group of young people who play basketball and it would be a brilliant place for them to practice. “There’s people who’d like to play tennis and there’s other groups.” She added: “We’re trying to make sure the facility isn’t lost to the community as it’s a valuable asset.” The trust is looking to take over the facility from the council using the community asset transfer process.
And part of that has included showing there is a desire from local people to use the site – be that for clubs, youngsters or sport.
