Craig Levein insists he’ll relish Tynecastle’s wrath when returning with St Johnstone on Saturday. The new Perth boss fully expects an unfriendly welcome from the Hearts faithful, having only been back to the Gorgie ground as a radio pundit since his sacking in October 2019.

And he admits being in the opposition dugout with a Premiership rival is poles apart from that gig. Levein said: “I’m looking forward to it.

I’ve been back quite a few times to do games for the BBC but this will be a bit different. I don’t know if I’ll get booed – I’d imagine I will.

I’d hope so anyway! I love it there. The atmosphere at Tynecastle is incredible.” Levein spent 14 years as a Jambos player and had his first spell as boss between 2000 and 2004.
