Coronation Street star Millie Gibson appeared downcast as she was spotted for the first time since she was axed from Doctor Who.

The 19-year-old made her debut on the sci-fi show at Christmas before the news broke that she'd only be playing the timelord's companion for just one series, with actress Varada Seethu taking over the role.In snaps obtained by the Mirror, the star was seen in Manchester on Monday donning a baseball cap - with her blonde locks hidden underneath it - paired with a multi-coloured Carhartt fleece, baggy bleached jeans and Ugg boots, Millie took a walk with her parents in the windy weather.

The star appeared to be keeping a low profile as she hid underneath her cap, as she was spotted leaving a coffee shop with her hands wedged in her pockets alongside her mum, dad and the family dog, Spike.

Last year, Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies decided to write out the former Coronation Street star - who plays orphan Ruby Sunday - after her first run ended.
