Coronation Street fans in disbelief over Ken Barlow star's age as he goes skydiving
ok.co.ukCoronation Street viewers were left in disbelief over Ken Barlow star Bill Roache's age on Monday's Lorraine as they refused to believe he is 91 thanks to his youthful looks.The actor, who was born in 1932 and has been on the cobbles since Corrie's first-ever episode in 1960, appeared on the ITV chat show to reveal he had gone skydiving for the first time in his life and he shared his experience with fans at home.
In the pre-recorded feature, it showed a delighted Bill skydiving with an instructor before releasing the parachute and landing in a field.
Speaking after the daring stunt, Bill said: "My breath's taken away, it's quite amazing, you can't breathe. "It's quite startling but then when suddenly your parachute opens and you see the glorious view, that's lovely, you just slow down and you know how birds feel. "It's really wonderful," although he added: "I'm ready for a cup of tea!" Taking to Twitter, fans were left both amazed at the achievement and Bill being 91 thanks to his youthful looks.
One person said: "There’s no way on this world bill roach is 91 not having it. #lorraine." While a different account added: "William Roache doesn't look 91. #lorraine #corrie." And it wasn't just fans who were amazed as host Lorraine Kelly admitted: "I’m finally lost for words." It comes as Bill praised the King and other senior Royal Family members for their work ethic, as the actor received his OBE last year.
